Corrupt locals who take bribes in exchange for leniency. Multiple law suites for both improper strip searches, open records violations, and more. If you don't believe me search the lexis nexus, or Google scholar. They've been investigated by the department of Justice more than once. I witnessed three officers beat a man at gun point while he obeyed every command... while a supervising officer watched silently. Inmates have died in their care. I welcome their legal department to sue me for libel... that way I can name names and provide evidence in a public forum. Perhaps then the newspapers will take the story? Word of advice: don't let the sun go down on you in dunn county wisconsin if you are a young man of color. This is the heart of kkk operations in the north. In my opinion it seems as though the local police chief and the local sheriff are mobster types who WILL abuse their power at their caprice.
Making a statement to that effect to a sworn officer of the court of the state of Wisconsin. Of course... after review... their local police administration exonerated their own employees. There is no such thing as a conflict of interest in this good old boys network.
If your child is planning on attending the University of Wisconsin stout... you should be worried. The sexual assault rate is among the highest in the nation there... and a Muslim student was recently murdered... of course... the "investigation" carries on.
Recently spoke to a Sgt. from this department after three years of noise and abuse of my animals by neighbors, including damage to my home. I was told in three years I had only called them six times. I showed them my phone records going back just two years proving 14 calls. In that time nothing was done and is still not being done. I was informed that deputies would be emailed and reminded of the laws. It's a dog a pony show and a complete waste of my tax dollars. I only got to talk to someone from the dept. after emailing the County Commissioners. This was after two further calls to speak to Sheriff Smith himself, upon the advice of the District Attorney. I left two polite messages which he refused to return. I believe in supporting my local businesses and community but with the lack of help when needed, I'm now purchasing any taxable items outside of Dunn County.
Stay away from menomonie wisconsin. Don't believe the small town tourism plugs. The place is an infestation. My two cents. You can take it or leave it in the change jar.
